Black leather:

Smooth-grain Italian leather with a medium sheen. Sourced from a tannery certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG)—a non-profit organization that works to promote sustainable and responsible leather manufacturing practices. Color is a true black. 

Calf Hair:

Crafted from genuine hair-on-cattle hide, this material retains the cow's natural hair for a soft, tactile texture. Our calf hair collection isnotmade from young cows. “Calf hair,” “pony hair,” and “hair-on-calf” are industry terms used to describe the look and texture of this type of leather. All of our hides come fromadult cattlethat are a by-product of the meat industry. The spotted print is achieved during the tanning process, giving each hide its own subtle variations in pattern and tone—making every bag unique. The base color is an off-white, and the spots are a warm, light brown.  

Please note: hair-on-calf is a delicate material. To preserve its texture and appearance, avoid excessive abrasion or rubbing, which may cause the hair to wear or shed over time.

Lining: 

100% cotton twill with a herringbone weave. Color is a light, warm tan.

Leather is sensitive to environmental factors. Humidity, rain, and prolonged sun exposure can cause damage. If the leather gets wet, gently blot the moisture with a soft, dry, natural-colored cloth. Protect the leather from sharp objects (such as jewelry and zippers) that could damage the surface. Be mindful that certain clothing and dyed fabrics, particularly dark denim, can transfer color onto your accessory. Light-colored leathers are more susceptible to this dye transfer. We recommend using a leather protectant on your item before use. If any stains occur, please see a cleaning specialist.

When not in use, store your item sitting upright inside a dust bag in a cool, dry place. For Hayes storage, we recommend tucking the shoulder straps into the interior of the bag to prevent creasing.
